The company Intelligent Insect Control SARL was closed last year as a consequence of a tax case. The case against IIC was that the company did not carry out research despite  co-operation with research institutes and two projects supported by the ministry of research. In other words the Ministry of Finance overruled the Ministry of Research on what constitutes research

The company was backed up by the Ministry of Research and of a tax commission that evaluated the case, but in France, a tax inspector can ignore what she wants. The tax inspector confiscated the financial support from the Ministry of Research, which meant the IIC had to stop payment to these projects. That led the state institutions to fine IIC for not paying.

The fines of the tax case meant the company had to seize its operations.
